PHONE CALLS DURING OFFICE HOURS
If possible, please call for appointments and instructions early in the day. The staff will give your message to us promptly. They are permitted to give medical advice only when directed by us. We usually return calls between 12:30 and 1:00 P.M. and between 5:00 and 6:00 P.M. or if time, in between patients.
AFTER-HOURS CALLS
When the office is closed, the answering service will take your calls. If you have an emergency, they will relay the call to one of us or a covering doctor immediately. We also participate in Fonemed, a Pediatric telephone triage service, on some nights. Our service will forward your call to them and a Pediatric nurse will call you back. Please give your number and wait for the return call.
If the triage service refers you to the emergency room, you should go to the closest hospital. Please use your judgement. After-hours calls should be for urgent matters only.
COVERING DOCTORS
When we can not be available, another Valley staff pediatrician will respond to your calls. This coverage gives us time to read, to study, to provide community service and, most importantly, to be with our families. The coverage system provides around-the-clock coverage for your child in the event of sudden illness or emergency. Routine questions and appointments which can wait until the next business day, should not be phoned after hours.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Your child’s health is very important to this office, as well as your time. We recognize that unavoidable emergencies do occur. If for any reason you need to reschedule an appointment, please call this office with at least 24 hours notice to allow us the opportunity to schedule another patient. Missed appointments with little or no notice may result in charges.
We appreciate your understanding and anticipated cooperation in this matter.
